Encapsulate and Remove Asbestos
CPCCDE3002A
This course is designed to develop the skills and knowledge required to identify and understand the hazards associated with the handling of asbestos. Workers completing this course will be required to understand and carry out OH&S requirements, and carry out correct decontamination procedures.

Asbestos Awareness
This course is for workers who want to improve their general knowledge of asbestos, and particularly workers who are on sites where an asbestos strip is being carried out. It is designed to raise awareness of the hazards of exposure to asbestos fibres.
The course includes an overview of the types and properties of asbestos, its history, uses and forms, health hazard information, and protection from exposure including labelling/warning signs/barriers, isolation, encapsulation and PPE. The role of the hygienist as well as a brief overview of the legislative framework is provided.
The course is usually run on site. However, workers can make individual bookings for courses run at the Education and Training Unit in the CFMEU's Carlton South, Geelong or Morwell offices.

Asbestos Refresher
The WorkSafe Compliance Code - Removing Asbestos in Workplaces requires hoders of Class A asbestos removal tickets to undertake yearly refresher training, and Class B ticket holders to undertake training every two years. This course covers the risks of exposure to airborne asbestos fibres and current updates to legislation and practice, including use of PPE.

Asbestos Supervisor's Course
This course is specifically designed for workers seeking to become asbestos removal company supervisors. Workers wishing to do this course must have completed training in asbestos removal and have at least two years' experience in asbestos removal.
The course covers relevant legislation, responsibilities of supervisors such as Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and completion of control plans, as well as understanding of asbestos registers and risk assessments.

Safe Access to Asbestos Removal Areas
This course has been recognised by WorkSafe, and the CFMEU is currently arranging to have the course accredited, and then added to their scope of registration. It is designed for workers who need to work in areas where asbestos is being removed but are not involved with the removal, for example scaffolders, electricians and maintenance workers. Contact the CFMEU Education and Training Unit for updates on this course.

This course meets the basic industry competency to erect and dismantle restricted-height scaffolding.

Work Safely at Heights

This course covers the endorsed industry standards to control traffic, and incorporates information on basic traffic management. You will not receive a statement of attainment until you have completed the logbook requirements of this competency.

This refresher course is designed for workers who have completed the initial one-day traffic control course. It is recommended that workers undertake a refresher course every 3 years.
