Certificate I courses have been developed for vocational education and training in schools programs, and comprise the core competencies common to Certificate II and all Certificate III qualifications.

Certificate II is an amalgamation and update of the competencies previously offered under traineeships for Construction Worker Grades 1 and 2.

Certificate III is a 'trade equivalent' qualification.  The mix of core and elective competencies will vary according to the occupational outcome nominated.  The CFMEU usually provides selected units of these courses to assist in meeting skills gaps for existing workers.  New entrants and apprentices need to complete the full qualification for their trade, and should contact the CFMEU's Apprentice Officer to obtain advice on suitable options for their TAFE training.
