The Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is designed for workers who are interested in developing specific skills in training and assessment. It is a nationally recognised course, and is used by all industries as the benchmark for workplace training and assessment.

The Certificate IV will involve off-the-job training at the CFMEU to complete the logbook as well as 17 days in the classroom. It is expected that it will take up to 18 months to complete the full certificate.

The CFMEU offers units of this Certificate for schools participating in the building industry VET in Schools program. The qualification was developed for new entrants wanting to gain an apprenticeship.

Certificates in General Construction
The CFMEU Education and Training Unit is registered to provide 10 qualifications from the General Construction Training Package.
Certificate I courses have been developed for vocational education and training in schools programs, and comprise the core competencies common to Certificate II and all Certificate III qualifications.
Certificate II is an amalgamation and update of the competencies previously offered under traineeships for Construction Worker Grades 1 and 2.
Certificate III is a 'trade equivalent' qualification. The mix of core and elective competencies will vary according to the occupational outcome nominated. The CFMEU usually provides selected units of these courses to assist in meeting skills gaps for existing workers. New entrants and apprentices need to complete the full qualification for their trade, nad should contact the CFMEU's Apprentice Officer to obtain advice on suitable options for their TAFE training.

Certificates in General Education for Adults
The skills required to achieve these certificates are combined with other courses offered by the Education and Training Unit, e.g. OH&S. Certificates are issued once a worker reaches a particular level of language, literacy and numeracy skill. The certificates can be used for recognition of general education levels for workers who left school prior to completing Year 9, 10 or 11, by the CFMEU Education and Training Units, or by referral to recognised WorkCover assessors.
