In addition to the superannuation, long service leave and redundancy benefits which the CFMEU has won, there is a list below of other side-benefits that you get from being a member of the Union.
Free Ambulance cover
Incolink redundancy scheme members and your immediate families (spouse / defacto and dependent children under 16 or full time students under 25) are covered for use of an ambulance in an emergency situation. This covers you anywhere in Australia. • Conditions Apply • Limits apply
Free Dental Accident benefits
As part of your Personal Accident Insurance through Incolink, CFMEU members and your immediate families may claim for tooth loss/full capping of teeth, and for partial capping of teeth resulting from accidental damage to previously healthy teeth.
Free Personal Accident insurance
Through Incolink, CFMEU members automatically receive free Personal Accident Insurance. This provides income protection to building workers who suffer injuries outside of working hours or on the journey to and from work. The cover continues for 39 weeks should you become unemployed (provided you are registered with the Incolink Member Services Department, Centrelink or the Union as looking for work).
Other benefits include lump sum payments for a range of conditions, including death, paralysis, loss of limb and broken bones resulting from injury.
Discount general insurance
Together with the CFMEU, Incolink has developed a scheme to offer Union members access to competitive rates for house and contents insurance. The aim is to provide cheaper premiums, better service and faster claims payment.
Income Protection and Trauma insurance
Through Incolink, CFMEU members can receive benefits through a comprehensive insurance policy for workers experiencing.
personal illness or injury, whether work-related or not. This is in the event of major trauma (death or total or permanent disablement) arising from a workplace (WorkCover) accident.
Employers contribute to the cost of the insurance policy which provides these benefits. A number of conditions and exclusions apply to the cover negotiated with the insurer.
Legal Services
CFMEU members are entitled to a wide range of free and discounted legal services. These services include free assistance and representation from Officers of the CFMEU in industrial and employment disputes as well as in workers compensation claims. The CFMEU can also arrange for members to access other legal services through Slater & Gordon Lawyers who staff a free legal service at the CFMEU from Monday to Thursday. Slater & Gordon offer free Wills to members and also offer free initial advice and discounted rates to members in a number of areas including all personal injury claims and family law.
